There are three parts to this standard all of which, along with EN 120 (EN 120: 1992 – Wood-based panels – Determination of formaldehyde content – Extraction method, called the perforator method), form a series which specifies methods for determining the formaldehyde in wood-based panels or its release from wood-based panels.
Standards EN 717-1, EN 717-2 and EN 120 are all referenced in Annex B (normative) of the European harmonised standard for panel products – EN 13986 : 2004 – Wood-based panels for use in construction – Characteristics, evaluation of conformity and marking as test methods for determining the formaldehyde release from wood-based panels i.e. plywood, OSB and LVL.
