Oregon showcases the largest cross laminated timber (CLT) structure in the US. The building uses CLT for the roof, floors and simplified support for the exterior façade, with glulam for the post and beam frame and columns. Completion took only 14 months, with just 12 weeks for the timber erection, saving four months construction time and 4 percent in costs.
CLT was chosen over a conventional structural steel frame for the five-floor, 156,000 square foot building with the objective of delivering a clean look with no visible mechanical systems. This was achieved using more than 4,200 mechanical, electrical and plumbing penetrations in the CLT.
